Crazy Day in Nine Bars!

Our annual BarStool Golf fundraiser started at 11am on April 20th.  115 teams signed up to play the miniature golf holes in the 9 bars.  The players also had the chance to buy t-shirts, buy raffle tickets for prizes and for a 50/50 drawing.  The bars had specials on drinks and some provided food for the players.  Every 30 minutes buses came around to transport the players to the next bar.  We had many returning teams who dressed up with t-shirts and other costumes and made the day extra fun!  Golfers who got a hole-in-one were rewarded with lots of noise and a lei or beads.  We will contact the winners of the raffle prizes and the 50/50 drawing as soon as we draw them and we'll post the standings of the teams at each of the bars soon.

We thank all the players who spent the day with us and the volunteers who worked the day and of course our event leader Kyle Moe who worked with the bars and our sponsor, Skeff Destributing in the months leading up to the event.  And most important, our 9 bars who did a great job preparing for the day and serving all our golfers!  You all rock!

AMBUCS Spring Round Up of New Members
Time to join a great group of people!

The Greater Champaign County AMBUCS is a enjoyable group to join!  We have lots of fun doing all of our projects from giving away Amtrykes, to thanking therapists for all they do with us, to fundraising, to maintaining AMBUCS Park, to shed cleaning!  We're always having a good time giving back to our community.  On March 16th, we'll be hosting our Cash Bash fundraiser at The C-U Elks Lodge in Savoy; we'll be hosting the Central Region AMBUCS Conference, on April 5th and 6th; our BarStool Golf fundraiser on April 20th; our Amtryke Road Rally on May 18th; and our Charity Golf Outing on September 16th.

Lunch2.jpg

We're a busy group!  We meet every Tuesday at Urbana Gardens for fellowship and to plan our events.  We have speakers at these lunch meetings and give away Amtrykes to people in our community.  We would be happy to have you join us at lunch!  Contact any member or email denhart@illinois.edu   We'll save a seat for you!  Follow us on Facebook or Twitter to keep up with events.

About GCC AMBUCS

AMBUCS is a national charitable service organization consisting of a diverse group of men and women dedicated to creating mobility and independence for people with disabilities.  The Greater Champaign County Chapter has been making a difference in Champaign County since 1981.  Our main accomplishments are the 350 ramps we have built for low income families in Champaign County since 1981 and the 300+ AmTrykes we have given away in the last 10 years.  At right is the crew at one of our bike builds.

Please take a look at the many wonderful things we do, and consider becoming a member.  We can always use the help, and we love meeting new people in the community.  If you like, just drop by one of our Tuesday lunch meetings at Urbana Gardens to see what we are all about.  We'll even spring for lunch!

When you're ready to join us just print and fill out this Membership Application and we'll be happy to have you!

Everyone had a great time at the Scarecrow Festival in AMBUCS Park!  The kids' games and the rides were the biggest hit and the bake sale table sold out by 1:30pm.  Hope to see everyone next year!

Currently we are not building ramps.  We hope to start again in 2024.

Our club gives away therapeutic tricycles, called AmTrykes, to children and adults with disabilities. The process starts with a recommendation from a therapist.  As soon as possible, a trike will be assembled and delivered for the person to enjoy!  Contact Amtryke Ambassador, Scott Price, 217-202-4487, with questions.
